The truth is / Binary Text, 2025
Dimensions: 27 x 10 ft
CNC-engraved plywood, gold acrylic paint, AI images
The binary installation with wooden engravings engages with the ephemeral projection of the body from the work ‘Restoration Act I.’ The code spells out ‘The truth is’ while the body searches for it. The wooden blocks represent 1s, and the empty spaces 0s. In this work, I draw an analogy between the transfer of information through binary codes in the past and AI algorithms in the present, questioning what is lost in translation. The projection of my performance remains ephemeral, while the AI images carved into wood have a tangible presence in space. The projection light illuminates each block as I move through the virtual space, transforming the physical surface of the gold-painted engravings. Each moment in the work remains anew as the light creates multiple points of illumination, translating through intricate carvings. Through this interplay of light, objects and body, the work explores the multiplicity of the present moment.
